The following is a submitted announcement from State Rep. Jim Arciero

State Representative James Arciero recently attended the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Joel Kottas of Westford Boy Scout Troop 195.  Joel was recently awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest award in scouting, on May 30th at a ceremony held at St. Catherine’s Church in Westford.  In order to receive this prestigious designation, a scout must secure 21 merit badges in a number of different areas ranging from government to camping.  Joel completed a total of 26 merit badges.

The final step is the completion of an Eagle Scout project. Mr. Kottas’ project involved building stands for various musical instruments, including violins and cellos, for the Crisafulli Elementary School in Westford.

As part of the ceremony, Representative Arciero presented Mr. Kottas with a Massachusetts House of Representatives Citation to mark the occasion. Representative Arciero is also an Eagle Scout.
