Earlier this week at an event in front of the Massachusetts State House, Second Middlesex District State Representative candidate Dennis Galvin (R-Westford) pledged his support to a group of current House members seeking to bring more transparency to Beacon Hill.
Calling state government a “systematic failure”, Galvin took the pledge vowing to work toward getting the state legislature to put committee votes online, apply open meeting laws, and create a House Ethics Committee consisting equally of Republicans and Democrats.

He also said that if elected, he would support any member who asks for a roll call vote and oppose the frequent practice of bundling amendments into bills.
“Our Commonwealth will never achieve the goal of becoming a society that is open and welcoming to all unless and until we finally rid ourselves of our ugly legacy of corruption and underhandedness in government,” said Galvin. “This pledge is a strong first step in that direction and I wholeheartedly support it.”
The pledge was also taken by Marc Lombardo (R-Billerica), Shaunna O’Connell (R-Taunton) and James Lyons (R-Andover).
