Westford’s unemployment rate rose slightly in June, but still remains far below state and national rates.

Earlier this week, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development reported that Westford had 533 individuals in the month of June, up from 467 in May.

That led to an increase in the unemployment rate from 3.8 percent to 4.3, despite 135 new jobs added in Westford between end of May and the end of June.

Among Westford’s neighbors, there were also month-to-month unemployment rate increases in Acton (3.6 to 3.9 percent), Littleton (4.5 to 4.7 percent), Carlisle (3.5 to 4.0 percent), Chelmsford (4.2 to 4.7 percent), Tyngsborough (4.8 to 5.6 percent) and Groton (3.5 to 3.9 percent).

Statewide, the figure was 5.6 percent, up from 5.2 in May, but down from the 7.4 percent average in June 2013.

The lowest rate in the state in a town or city with more than 1,000 people was West Tisbury (2.8 percent) and the highest rate in a town or city with more than 1,000 people was Lawrence (11.2 percent.)
