From Nabnasset to Forge Village, here are your Five Things for Sept. 25, 2014

#1. Learn How to Use An HD Television Camera: Westford CAT’s George Cox will show the finer points of zooming, white balance, audio and more in this class.

It’s on Oct. 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Westford CAT’s studios at 487 Groton Rd.

#2. Join Sustainable Westford in the River Ride on Sept. 27 for a 15 mile loop through Lowell and Tyngsboro along the Merrimack River for charity.

Funds raised will help community non-profit initiatives such as the Farmers’ Market, the Healthy Kids Coalition, Upcycle It, the Tap WA-Ter Initiative and more.

#3. The Westford Womens’ Club… will be sending Christmas cheer this holiday season as part of an effort with MooreMart to create care packages for the troops.

Until Sept. 30, donation points will be available at the following locations.

  • JV Fletcher Library
  • Roundenbush Community Center
  • Cameron Senior Center
  • Office of Veterans Services, (Millennium Building – behind Abbot School)

While financial donations aren’t being accepted, here are a few things the WWC is looking for in particular.

  • Single sealed toothbrush
  • Small toothpaste
  • Chapstick
  • Holiday cards with a personalized message
  • Patriotic drawings from children

#4. Calling All Runners!… Westford’s own Paul Curtin (pictured), completed the Lake Placid Ironman this summer and he attributed that in large part to a Running Injury Assessment Clinic at Emerson Hospital here in Westford.

Speaking of that clinic, it’s happening again!

The clinic will take place on Sept. 27 from 8 to 11 a.m. at Emerson’s Center for Sports Rehabilitation and Specialty Services at 133 Littleton Road.
