Celebrate Westford First weekend of each month in the historic center and beyond. So much fun, so close to home. Great events happening in Westford throughout the month of December. The Roudenbush Gymnastics Team put on a wonderful holiday program for area boys and girls.  A great time was had by all who attended Roudy’s Polar Express on Sunday December 14. Children did crafts, enjoyed cookies and hot chocolate watched The Polar Express and got a surprise visit from Santa. Basic Zumba A mix of Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves creates an amazing fitness program. Zumba promises to burn calories and energize your body. Fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body. Jan. 8 to Feb. 19 (6 Thursdays) 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. $75/$72.

 

 

 

Fashion Workshop (Grades 3 to 6) with Instructor Emily Benson of the Fashion Truck. Make winter break a fashionable one. Students will discover the process of creating a fashion brand from start to finish. We will focus on creating the inspiration, concept, name and logo of the student’s new fashion business. Students will sketch and create a signature outfit and accessory out of found materials. On the final day there will be an exposition of each student’s fashion business and a fashion show of their creation. $123/$120. Dec. 29 to Dec. 31 (Monday thru Wednesday) 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

 

 

 

The abc’s of Baklava and Working with Filo Dough Join us in the kitchen at Nashoba Tech and learn all about Baklava and filo dough. There will be a materials fee of $25 for filo, nuts, butter and other supplies. Bring containers to take home. $25, Wednesday, Jan. 28 6:00 to 8:30 p.m

Hiring a Contractor Get what you paid for and pay the right price. How you handle the estimator visit, before he gives you a price determines whether you will send up unhappy or get a swiftly done project that meets your expectations. $18/$15, Thursday, Jan. 22, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Woodworking 101 (ages 16 to adult) This class offers the student machine safety techniques using hand and machine tools. The project to be made will be discussed in the first class. Students will purchase their own lumber and safety glasses. Ages 16 to 18 will need a parent. Held at Nashoba Tech Jan. 26 to March 9 (6 Mondays) 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., $169.

Fencing in the Roudenbush gym. Fencing provides poise, self-assurance, physical agility and it’s fun. Equipment will be provided if needed. Students must be 10 years or older. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes starting Jan. 7 for 10 weeks. $103/$100.

Dru Yoga at Great Book Yoga, Chelmsford. Flowing Dru Yoga sequences, combined with music and rhythm to unlock your inner strength. $99/$96 (6 Mondays) 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.

Body Sculpting A complete workout set to music, designed to strengthen all the major muscle groups in the body while boosting metabolism and leaving you stronger. All ages and fitness levels. $63/$60, Jan. 8 to Feb. 26 (6 Thursdays) 9:15 to 10:00 a.m.

Bollywood Music Workshop for Beginners (ages 14 to adult) Learn Indian and Western music fundamentals, learn to sing and play rag Bilawal/Sankarabharanam/major scale. Bring a portable keyboard or an ipad with piano app. $125/$122, Feb. 5 to Mar. 12 (6 Thursdays) 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Bridge for Beginners, Part 1 If you have ever thought about learning bridge, or have learned the rules but have limited playing experience, we will balance instruction with an opportunity to play under experienced supervision. $108/$105, Jan 20 to Feb. 24 (6 Tuesdays) 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
