Organize to Help Stamp out Hunger in Massachusetts! Westford Academy is joining high school students across the Commonwealth to help stamp out hunger. Walmart has challenged WA to end hunger and will match every pound of food collected. DID YOU Project 351KNOW . . .“One of every five children is at risk of hunger in America today! 16 million children live in households without consistent access to adequate food.” Please consider what is at stake and donate food items between December 1-12, 2014. Donate non-perishable food items in non-breakable containers (no glass). Look for food drop off bins in the WA  cafeteria, main office, Guidance Department and by the WA gym.  Food donations will go to the Westford Food Pantry located at the Cameron Senior Center to help families in need over the holidays. The Walmart match will go to the Massachusetts four regional food banks: Merrimack Valley Food Bank, Greater Boston Food Bank, Worcester County Food Bank and Western Massachusetts Food Bank. Each year these food banks distribute 2 million pounds of food to 800 emergency providers across the state.  WA has the opportunity to do our part to end hunger and double the number of families and children we impact. Needed Food Items: hot and cold cereal, maple syrup, peanut butter, soup (regular and low sodium), instant potatoes, rice, canned chicken, canned vegetables, canned tuna, microwave meals, coffee, tea, powdered milk, juice and juice booxes, crackers, canned fruit with lite syrup, low sodium foods, diabetic food items, gluten free foods, gravy, flour, sugar, brand name spaghetti sauce, pancake mix, canned pastas, cookie mix, baked beans, cake mix, cookie mix, beef stew, water bottles, apple sauce, snacks for lunch boxes, Jello, toilet paper, pudding, paper towels, Kleenex, soap, shampoo, laundry soap.
