Fireballs and Hollaback Girlz Dominate The WYBA This Week

Game Reports for Week Starting: January 12, 2015

 

Fireballs 36 vs. Hot Pink Chili Peppers 17

The Fireballs used a quick start to beat the Hot Pink Chili Peppers. Katie Fitzsimmons started the game off with a three-pointer, which was quickly answered by a Kayleigh McHugh three-pointer. The Fireballs were able to pull away using there trademark fast-break offense and balanced scoring. Emily Perrone, Cory Mains, Leah Bushey, Jackie Joncas, Hannah Kruger and Maeli Cherry all scored for the Fireballs. Julia Gabriel led the Hot Pink Chili Peppers in scoring, supported by Meghanna Yellanki and Yamini Kumar.

Shamrocks 30 vs. Black Squad 27

The Shamrocks earned their first win of the season, holding off a furious comeback by the Black Squad to win 30-27.  The Shamrocks had a balanced attack, with scoring from five of their seven players.  Kelli Cooper poured in 12 with a mix of powerful inside moves.  Emily Doolan used her blazing speed to drop in six.  Claudia Ruble, Jackie Andry, and Maytal Burstein ripped the nets with four points each.  Melissa Oram anchored the center of the defense, and Haylee Walsh had four assists running the point.  For the Black Squad, Juliette Noone led the way with nine points, including shooting five out of ten from the line.  Kayla Rochon, Shannon Harris, and Carol Neuhardt each had six points to round out the scoring.  Samantha Kingston and Lauren Flynn added tough rebounding and solid defense for the Black Squad.

Hollaback Girlz 41 vs. Blue Flames    24

This was a very competitive game, with the score going back and forth, until the fourth quarter when the Hollaback Girlz were able to extend their lead. Katie Ross, Caroline Dolan and Tori Weiss, all of whom had strong offensive games, led the Hollaback Girlz. McKenna Watson, Melissa Durkin and Nikhita Bhasker led the Blue Flames led offensively, with Megan Lawlor standing out both defensively and offensively.

Blue Flames 32 vs. Shamrocks 23

This was an intense matchup between the Shamrocks and the Blue Flames. Despite having a short bench, the Flames were able to bull out the win with a great effort by all players. Megan Lawlor, McKenna Watson and Jessie Wilkinson led the Flames, while Haylee Walsh and Claudia Ruble were standouts for the Shamrocks.
