Man Yells Things About Trayvon Martin Following Cornerstone Car Crash

 The following information was provided by the Westford Police Department. Anyone arrested is considered innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law. 

Feb. 11, 10:53 a.m. – While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to Groton Road for reports of a motor vehicle accident.

The accident occurred near the Chelmsford town line, with the driver of a black Nissan Altima heading west before driving across the road and plowing through a snow bank before ending up against a tree.

When asked, the driver told the officer that he had dozed off, although it was unclear if the driver had a medical condition or was just tired.

The driver was given a citation and his vehicle was towed. He was transported to Dunkin’ Donuts on Groton Road per his request.

March 3, 1:30 p.m. – A man from Honeysuckle Road asked police about a ticket he received last November in California.

The ticket said he was speeding and had no insurance, but he said he was insured at the time.

He was advised to fax a copy of his insurance policy to the appropriate court in California.

March 6, 8:32 a.m. – While at the corner of Boston and Littleton Roads, an officer went to assist another officer on the scene at Burton’s Grill for a reported motor vehicle crash.

The driver of the first car, an SUV, was lying in his seat upon the officer’s arrival. That driver said he did not need medical attention, but believed the other driver might. However, the second driver told the officer that he did not need medical attention either.

After inspecting the scene and the driver’s licenses, the officer smelled a mild marijuana odor coming from the vehicle.

Eventually the driver of the SUV began to carefully monitor the officer’s movements, at one point quickly darting around the interior of his car to ensure he could keep an eye on the officer.

At this point the officer feared for the safety of himself and others on the scene and asked what the driver was doing. The driver said he was getting a jacket, but the officer said that he was going to frisk the driver and inspect his vehicle for weapons or other items that could harm those at the scene.

After hearing this, the driver became uncooperative. The officer put his hand on the arm of the driver as the driver said he was not guilty of any offenses.

The officer reiterated what he was about to do and requested the driver take his hands out of his pockets.

A search of the vehicle and the driver’s clothes came up with no weapons, although there was a black paintball mask in the car.

Following the inspections, the driver continued to yell at the officers on the scene.

The officer that did the inspection reiterated his explanation, but the driver then began to yell about the Treyvon Martin case according to the police report.

The other driver was unclear why the SUV driver was acting in that manner and was unsure why the SUV driver didn’t look to see if there was any damage on his car following the accident.

Eventually the SUV driver’s mother came to the scene to give him a ride home.
