PCA Sound Day  Friday, Nov. 25, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. FREE. Part science lab and part user group, PCA Sound Day is an opportunity to work with the PCA’s sound system in depth.  Participants will learn from the experts, share ideas, and experiment.  The day begins with a full inventory and equipment check, and then we move into open-ended experimentation with microphone technique, monitor placement, EQ, effects, and more.  All users of the PCA’s sound equipment, and the general community, are welcome to attend. Participants are asked to register in advance by calling 978-692-6333, or just drop in.  FREE.

Westford Teen Arts Council Homecoming!  Friday, Nov. 25, 7 p.m. Teens with an interest in music, performing, setting up sound equipment, or just hanging out with friends, are invited to attend the Westford Teen Arts Council (WTAC). The Council produces open-mic shows primarily for performers in grades 8-12 (but all are welcome). This student-run organization embraces music of all types: jazz, classical, acoustic, rock, and even spoken-word and poetry. Admission is $5, and snacks are available.

Check our social media sites for future show dates. Shows are roughly every six weeks from October to June, with opportunities to perform or  support your friends. Sometimes school conflicts or other events require a modification of the schedule. To keep up to date, teens are asked to like the Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ParishWTAC) or check the PCA calendar on the web site (www.westford.org/pca).

Open Mic Night Sunday, Nov. 27, 6:30 p.m. Regular Open Mic Nights are offered on the second and fourth Sunday of the month. Share a song, tune or poem with a roomful of supportive listeners.  If you’ve never played in front of an audience before, this is a great place to start. If you’re an old hand at performing, it’s a great place to meet others and share your talents with new performers. A professional or semi-professional act is featured at each open stage around 9 p.m. $5 cover.

In The Gallery  Sundays in November, 12 to 2 p.m.  Trina Teele, “Nautical Whispers.” Free and open to the public. Local artist, Trina Teele brings her work to the PCA gallery in November. Growing up in Chelmsford, Teele spent summers on Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and Long Island, NY. The rhythm of the ocean has been a central theme in her life.  For the past two years Teele has painted seascapes including many boats and sailboats. Inspired by her maritime childhood and driven by an enduring love for the sea, the artist created this exhibit of more than 40 paintings.

Coming to the Gallery in December Sundays in December, 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Paul Orzech

While in college, Paul Orzech taught himself the serigraph printing process, and experimented with small runs of concert posters and art prints. Often maddening, and filled with failures, this was a period of artistic growth. After graduating, he designed and printed concert posters for R5 Productions in Philadelphia. Additionally, Orzech began to design artwork for bands along the east coast, creating vinyl and cd layouts, t-shirt designs, posters and more. Presently, Orzech continues to make small-run serigraph art prints, and the occasional artwork for his friends’ musical endeavors. His pieces have become more minimalistic, utilize negative space, and are inspired by the abstract beauty of nature, societal concerns, and the need to retreat from the pressures of everyday life.
