Pan Am Railways of Billerica is replacing the train crossing on Brookside Road so motorists are asked to beware of a detour beginning Oct. 31 at 9 a.m. and ending Nov. 1. Pan Am crew members are on the scene now, building a new crossing panel. On Oct. 31 they’ll tear up the old asphalt, slide in the new rail, lay the rubber covering and begin paving, according to Cynthia Scarano, vice president of marketing and sales.

All traffic will be routed to School Street in Chelmsford. Contact the Westford Highway Department for further information at (978)692-5520.
