In the gallery this January, local artists Laurae and Elijah Richards are welcomed. Laurae, a wife and mother of six, started going to Haiti in 2000 and said she fell in love with the country and people there. Her experiences inspired many paintings which captured her lpassion for Haiti’s people.  An Art Reception will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Sundays in January from noon until 2 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to help produce the Westford Regional Art Event. A WRAE Volunteer Kick-Off Reception will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 6:30 p.m. (snow date, Jan 12, 6:30 p.m.).

The Westford Teen Arts Council hosts an open mic for teens on Friday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. Teens interested in music, can find details about this organization here.

Musician performances in January include the Classical Chamber Music Concert on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 4 p.m. The selections will highlight the Evolution of the String Quartet with performances of Haydn’s String Quartet in C Major, Opus 20 #2 and Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in E-flat Major, Opus 12; Also in January on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 8 p.m., The Love Dogs perform to a sold-out room;  And, on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 4 p.m., principal pianist for the Boston Ballet, Freda Locker, performs Romeo and Juliet. Pre-concert talk begins at 3:15 p.m.

A Barn Dance takes place on Sunday, Jan. 14. Jacquelyn Laufman will be the caller. An Open Mic night with John Ferullo begins after the dance. Ferullo also hosts every second and fourth Sunday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Saturday Evening Barn Dance returns on Jan. 27 with Beth Parkes as the caller.

On Sunday, Jan. 21, Dandiya Nights, an Indian folk dance, takes place. 

Music Together classes and Creative Motivation sessions resume the week of Jan. 8.
