The Terry Ryan for Congress Campaign announced on Jan. 25 the official launch of its campaign and the hiring of Lincoln Park Strategies, of Washington, D.C., which will oversee the campaign, as well as lead polling and research efforts.

As the campaign for the 3rd District of Massachusetts begins in earnest with the new year, the Terry Ryan for Congress team welcomed Stefan Hankin and his team at Lincoln Park Strategies to the campaign team. The campaign also hired New Media Campaigns, a full service and award winning digital agency, that has helped candidates and advocacy efforts around the world, including dozens of successful Congressional campaigns.

Ryan is a Democrat from Westford. He is one of 11 Democratic candidates (see sidebar to right) vying for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Niki Tsongas, a Lowell Democrat. Tsongas has said she will not seek re-election when her term  is up next year.

Lincoln Park Strategies is a full-service research analytic research firm established in 2009 by Stefan Hankin. Hankin, a native of Massachusetts and a graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, has worked in politics for close to two decades helping candidates ranging from state Representative to President of the United States. He was part of the polling team for John Kerry’s 2004 Presidential campaign and then served as a lead pollster for President Barack Obama’s primary campaign starting in early 2007.

“We are very excited to join the Ryan campaign,” said Hankin. “Voters in the 3rd District need someone who will represent their needs in Washington, and someone who is a true public servant, not someone who just wants the next step in their career or someone who focuses only on fighting Republican leadership. Terry’s record of public service and his dedication to his fellow citizens not only makes him a perfect fit for this district, but represents exactly what Washington needs these days. We are honored to be part of his team, and look forward to helping Terry get his vision out to the voters in the 3rd District.”

Lincoln Park will begin the process of building the campaign apparatus and give Ryan more time to focus on talking with voters across the district.

“Our country is facing serious problems, and we need a member of Congress who will continue to do what is in the interest of this district,” said Ryan. “When it comes to issues such as education, jobs, and health care, we need someone in Washington who will do what’s right for our country, our commonwealth, and most importantly: our district. As a passionate public servant, I have always given back to this great district, where I have lived my entire life. As a representative in Congress, I will continue my calling to public service and work tirelessly to represent the interests of the hardworking individuals and families of our district.”

Ryan has experience in both the private and public sectors. He currently serves as Chair of the Westford School Committee, which he has served on for nearly six years, and is also the Director of the Merrimack Valley Small Business Center, where he helps entrepreneurs start or expand their small businesses. Ryan previously worked at Raytheon Company and Lucent Technologies.

Ryan and his wife, Kerry (Quealey) Ryan, both grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts and currently reside in Westford, Massachusetts with their three children, Matthew (16), Alexandra (14), and Emily (12).
