A 55-year-old Swanzey, New Hampshire man was indicted recently by a Grand Jury for drug trafficking in Westford, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.

On Feb. 24, Alan Richardson was spotted jumping a fence along Route 495 and heading for the woods. A police officer found Richardson on Pine Hill Road in Westford.

As the cruiser approached, Richardson allegedly pulled a blue fanny pack out of his jacket sleeve and threw it into the woods, according to the District Attorney’s office. A search of the fanny pack allegedly resulted in authorities finding four bags of a tan compressed powder and five bags of a white compressed powder.

The Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory later confirmed the tan powder was fentanyl, weighing approximately 80 grams, and that the white powder was cocaine.

Richardson’s Superior Court arraignment is scheduled for July 19.
