As a former member of the United States military and the Westford Board of Selectmen, I am proud to endorse Jim Arciero for re-election as state Representative.

Jim Arciero has been a leader on veteran’s issues in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, having recently enacted three of his legislative proposals into law as part of the BRAVE [Veterans’ Benefits, Rights, Appreciation, Validation and Enforcement] Act. This bill continues the fine tradition of our state in leading the nation in providing for veterans and their families. His efforts with this legislation and other bills he has filed have led to 100 percent of disabled veterans being able to access public housing, creation of a commission to study the feasibility of offering tuition and fee waivers for veterans to attend Massachusetts public colleges and universities, and allowing Gold Star families who receive an annuity on behalf of the service of their fallen family member to exempt this payment from taxation or from inclusion in the calculation for benefits and services from the state.

During his tenure as a member of the Veterans Affairs Committee for the last eight years, two other major veteran’s bills have been passed, Valor Act 1 and Valor Act 2, which made Massachusetts the number one state in providing services and benefits to its veterans in the country.

Jim Arciero has been a leader on veteran’s issues and he truly values the sacrifice and contribution these American heroes have made  to our nation by keeping us secure and freed. Jim Arciero deserves to be re-elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives where he can continue his fine leadership on veteran’s issues and the many other issues that face our state. Jim Arciero stands for veterans, and this veteran stand with him. Please vote Nov. 6 for Jim Arciero — Bob McCusker, U.S. Army 1981-1987, former Westford selectman and current Westford resident.
