Make sure you do your research before walking into the voting booth on Nov. 6.

Research the experience, leadership, work history, and records of both candidates for the 2nd Middlesex District state Representative seat, and you will find that there is a vast difference between them.

Ballotpedia is a great source of information for the voting record of existing office holders. Professionally, LinkedIn should be yet another source for business backgrounds.

Anyone can talk the talk and create policy positions. The economy, school safety, local aid, and building stronger communities are all popular themes that tug at the heartstrings. But without real life exposure, a proven voting record, and the kind of (town) committee leadership experience you would expect of a serious candidate, those positions may simply be adopted from the party line and not based on life experience. They cannot carry the same weight as that of a candidate who for years has experienced what it really takes to successfully get things done in the Massachusetts Legislature.  Bumper stock bans, extreme risk protection, and anti-bullying Legislation, are just a few of the recent bills that state Rep. Jim Arciero has helped to pass.

In our democracy, it is most desirable to have electoral competition, but our vote is precious and a privilege. Are you willing to give it to anyone who chooses to throw their hat in the ring regardless of knowledge or leadership or simply because someone thinks it is time for a change?

We are voting for someone to represent us who can work on both sides of the aisle, has a proven track record, and has the skills and leadership we desire in our representatives.  And that is why we are voting for Jim Arciero – You should too. — Alden and Diane Wood, Westford, MA
