Local Girl Scout troops will hold the traditional tree lighting ceremony in the town Common on Sunday, Nov. 25 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Activities include caroling on the Common led by the Westford Girl Scout Chorus and Santa, who will arrive by fire truck. The lights will be turned on at about 4:30 p.m. by Mark Jarvis, who founded the event 30 years ago.
After Santa arrives, attendees can bring their cameras and head inside the Parish Center for the Arts located across the Common at 10 Lincoln St. for pictures of children with Santa. Girl Scouts will also be handing out candy canes and providing crafts.
Supporters and sponsors of this year’s event include the Westford Girl Scouts, the Westford Police Department, the Westford Fire Department, Westford Garden Club, Westford Parks and Recreation, the Town of Westford, Parish Center for the Arts, Ellen Harde, and Santa and his Elf.
