The Library’s Holiday Hours:  On Wednesday, Nov. 21, Thanksgiving Eve, the Library will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; we will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and on Friday, Nov. 23. The Library will re-open on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 10 a.m.

Advanced Snap Circuits and Takeaparts: Friday, Nov. 20 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. We have five exciting Snap Circuits kits to play with: RC Cars, Light, Motion, Arcade, and 3-D Illumination. Participants can preregister online. This free program is for children in grades 3 to 5.

Monday Mystery Book Club: Monday, Nov. 26 at 10:30 a.m. The club meets on the fourth Monday morning of each month at 10:30 a.m. in the Mary Atwood Room. The November selection is The Decider by Dick Francis. Copies of the current selection are available for check-out at the Main Desk. New members are always welcome and registration is not required

Knitting Group: Monday, Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. The informal Knitting Group meets in the Mary Atwood Room on the second Monday of every month from 3 to 5 p.m. and the fourth Monday of every month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This is a drop-in program that is open to all ages. Knitters can bring their latest project and share advice and socialize with other knitters. Those with questions can call Sarah Regan at 978-399-2309.

Pastel Paint Like the Masters: Thursday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. Greg Maichack demonstrates how beginners to accomplished artists can paint using the techniques of Georgia O’Keefe. Participants will produce their own pastel painting of a selected section of the O’Keefe’s mural, “The Miracle Flower.” This program is for ages 16 and up. Attendees can register online or in Information Services. All materials are provided.  This free program is limited to 30.

Ukulele Strum Along: Saturday, Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. Participants will learn to play by playing. Focusing on two and three chord songs, this program is for the beginner ukulele player who wants to practice and play music with others. Ukuleles are available to borrow. The songs are projected onto a screen so no music stands or books are necessary. This program is open to adults and teens. To borrow a ukulele, participants are asked to register online or in the Information Services Department. Those with their own instrument can drop in.

Introducing Juvenile VOXbooks: The Youth Service division presents VOXbooks, which combine picture books with audio recordings to capture children’s attention and make learning and literacy development fun. With these all-in-one read-along titles, no computer, tablet or CD is necessary. Children push a button to listen and read. Checkout our great titles today.

Planning for Thanksgiving Vacation? The Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library fund museum passes to 23 different venues. The passes are available to Westford residents and members of the Friends. Many seasonal venues will be open and special programs are provided during school vacation week. Reservations can be made via the website or by calling the Fine Arts department at 978-399-2303.
