Mental Health Advocate Sue Hanly visited the set of “Main Street” earlier this month to offer tips for those struggling with depression while trying to make it through the holidays.
“Anyone who’s experiencing depression usually has a very difficult time around holidays because it’s supposed to be a joyous time and for a lot of people, if they’re feeling sadness, they feel even worse about themselves around the holidays,” she said. [Continue below].
Hanly discusses depression among teens and encourages parents to accept the situation, listen and validate what’s going on.
“Denying or pretending it’s not a problem is probably the worst thing you can do because the child feels they’re not being heard,” she said.
