State Rep. James Arciero recently attended a special Boy Scout Court of Honor ceremony where Spencer Ross Purple, a member of Westford Boy Scout Troop 159 was awarded the Hans Wiken Spirit of Scouting Award. This annual award is given in memory of Hans E. Wiken, an Eagle Scout and former member of Westford Boy Scout Troop 159, who passed away in an automobile accident in 2004, and was known for his great love and respect for Scouting and his troop. Nominees are selected by a group of boy scout leaders for their dedication and commitment to Troop 159 and scouting. Arciero presented Purple with an official citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives to commemorate his selection.
