Friday, June 14 from 4 – 5:15 p.m.:  Reps. Trahan and Espaillat To Host 2020 Census Forum

Representatives Lori Trahan (D-MA-03) and Adriano Espaillat (D-NY-13) will host a forum on Friday, June 14 to discuss the importance of a fair 2020 Census process. This event is open to the public, and the press.

As mandated by the U.S. Constitution, the United State Census Bureau counts every person in the country every 10 years. The information from the census helps determine how federal funding is distributed to states and communities. For this reason, it is critically important that the country has an inclusive and accurate census count in every community across Massachusetts, and the United States. Billions of dollars in federal funding is at stake if an inaccurate count occurs in 2020. Lawrence and the surrounding communities could be deprived of much needed federal dollars that support critical services and programs if the count is not carried out properly.

The Supreme Court of the United States is currently considering whether to allow the Trump Administration to insert an unnecessary citizenship question into the 2020 census, which experts warn could suppress the count.

What: Representatives Trahan and Espaillat Forum on the 2020 Census.
When: Friday, June 14 from 4 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.
Where: Terra Luna Café, 225 Essex St, Lawrence.
