State Rep. James Arciero recently met with staff and students from Nashoba Valley Technical High School as part of Investing in Early College advocacy day at the State House.
The forum, sponsored by the Massachusetts Institute for a New Commonwealth (MassINC), was held to raise awareness of the success of early college programs, like the ones being offered by NVTHS. Three Nashoba students represented the school and spoke about their personal stories.
Founded in 1996, MassINC is a nonprofit organization created to identify and promote public policy that creates a pathway to opportunity for Massachusetts residents, and is noted for its rigorous research and journalism, extensive state-wide network, expertise in how state and local government works, and thoroughly collaborative approach.
NVTHS Juniors Mikayla Jones of Townsend is studying banking, marketing and retail, Brianna Schmoyer of Harvard is studying culinary arts, and Ethan Reed of Pepperell, who is participating in a duel enrollment program with Middlesex Community College, is studying biology and medicine. Accompanying the NVTHS students were early college English instructor Bruce Sullivan and Guidance Counselor Jonathan Nardy-Williams.
