State Rep. James Arciero recently attended the Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony for Thomas Cutbill and Matt Eggert, members of Westford Boy Scout Troop 437. To achieve the rank of Eagle, a scout must earn at least 21 merit badges in a number of different areas ranging from government to recreational activities. It is the highest award given in scouting.
In addition, Eagle Scout candidates must plan and complete an extensive Eagle Scout project that consists of coordinating the materials, manpower, and cooperation of many individuals to achieve the objective of the project. Such projects benefit community groups or civic organizations and represent service to society as well as a demonstration of the leadership required to be an Eagle Scout. Thomas Cutbill’s project was the conversion of biology lab tables into physics lab tables at Westford Academy. Matt Eggert’s project was the construction of new rolling wardrobes for the Cameron Senior Center’s Thrift Store to organize their inventory.
As part of the ceremony, Arciero, who is also an Eagle Scout, presented Cutbill and Eggert with official citations from the Massachusetts House of Representatives to mark the auspicious occasion.
