A small group of friends honored former Westford police officer and current Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator, Ray Peachey, on Aug. 29, with a gathering at the Sunset Tiki Bar and Grill in Westford. Peachey’s retirement was effective as of Aug. 30, according to the Westford Police Department’s Facebook page.

“Ray was a police officer for the town from 1978 until 2002. He has since worked for the Westford Health Department since 2011. Tomorrow, August 30th, is his last day of work at the health department before he moves to Ohio to be closer to family.

Ray was the DARE [Drug Abuse Resistance Education] officer in Westford for many years and touched the lives of many students in school system. Known to always wear his emotions on his sleeve, Ray was infamous for becoming emotional at the DARE graduation every year, much like he did this morning at his going away brunch at town hall.”
