Here are suggestions for things to do around town:

The Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library will hold their annual meeting on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. followed by the featured speaker, Marianne Leone at 7:30 p.m. The free event is open to the public. Leone is an actress, screenwriter, essayist, and author. Her memoir of joy, grief, and triumph, “Jesse,” tells the story of her son’s life and chronicles her transformation by his untimely death. Her second memoir, Ma Speaks Up, recounts the story of her outspoken, frequently outrageous Italian immigrant mother. Her essays and op-ed pieces have appeared in the Boston Globe, WBUR’s Cognoscenti blog, and The Bark magazine. She had a recurring role on HBO’s hit series “The Sopranos” as Joanne Moltisanti, Christopher’s mother, and has appeared in films by John Sayles, David O. Russell, Nancy Savoca, and Martin Scorsese.
