Former Vice President Joe Biden won the Presidential Democratic primary in Westford, according to the preliminary results provided by the Town Clerk’s office.

Biden led the way in the Super Tuesday primary election with 36 percent of the town’s votes

Biden got 2,266 votes to runner up Bernie Sanders, a U.S. Senator from Vermont, with 1,425 votes.

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts won 1,310 votes in Westford, finishing in third place — a surprise in that Massachusetts is her home state.

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg got 850 votes.

In all, 6,291 out of more than 17,383 registered voters cast ballots — about 36 percent.

Earlier in the day, Town Clerk Patty Dubey called it a “good turnout.”

Nine candidates ran for the Democratic Town Committee including state Rep. James Arciero who garnered the most number of votes at 4,334. Kathleen Healy came in second with 3,567 votes.
