Sign installation operations on Interstate 495 between Middleborough and Amesbury begin on Sunday, May 16
Work continues on I-93 northbound and southbound between Boston/Somerville and Methuen
MIDDLEBOROUGH AND AMESBURY – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that it will begin installing new milepost-based signs at all exits along Interstate 495, between Middleborough and Amesbury, on Sunday, May 16, 2021. The sign installation operations, which will take place nightly during overnight hours from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following day, are anticipated to be completed in five weeks.
The sign installation work on Interstate 495, between Middleborough and Amesbury, has been broken up into four construction segments as follows:
- Interstate 495 between I-195 (old exit 3) and I-95 (old exit 13)
- Interstate 495 between I-95 (old exit 14) and I-90 (old exit 22)
- Interstate 495 between I-90 (old exit 23) and Route 3 (old exit 35)
- Interstate 495 between Route 3 (old exit 37) and the junction of Routes 110/I-95 (old exit 55)
The ongoing sign installation operations that are being conducted on Interstate 93 northbound and southbound, between old exit 28 to exit 48 (between Boston/Somerville and Methuen), are also scheduled to continue through the week of May 16. This work is expected to be completed in approximately two weeks.
