Reopening June 1! : We are pleased to announce that the Library will be reopening to the public on Tuesday, June 1.  Regular hours will be reinstated and limited Curbside Service will be available.  Items may be returned in person or in the book drop. Masks will be required in light of our high usage by as-yet-unvaccinated children.  Services and programs will be evolving. Welcome back!

In Observance of Memorial Day the Library will be closed on Saturday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Monday, May 31 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Library will reopen on Tuesday, June 1 at 10 a.m.

Tales and Tales Summer Reading Program for all ages! : This summer we have exciting programs and prizes lined up for children, young adults, and adults! We are offering some virtual programming but the majority of our offerings will take place outside, socially distanced, and in-person! Registration for all three programs opens on June 7. Check out the Children’s Summer Reading page and the Teens Summer Reading Page for more information. Please call or email us with any questions on this very different but exciting summer-long program.

Unless otherwise noted, all of our programs are generously funded by the Friends of the Library.

 Virtual Adult Nonfiction Book Club: Tuesday, June 1 at 7 p.m.: We’ll discuss Ten Lessons for a Post-Pandemic World by Fareed Zakaria. If you would like a copy of the book and Zoom details, email Charles at cschweppe@westfordma.gov Please specify the book title and club name. It is also available to download from Overdrive.

Virtual The Cooking Gene with Michael Twitty: Thursday, June 10 at 7 p.m. African American culinary historian Michael Twitty discusses his book, The Cooking Gene, the 2018 James Beard Foundation’s Book of the Year Award-winner. Massachusetts-based chef and author Chef Bill will facilitate this event’s discussion. Register through the Library Events Calendar to get the Zoom link. Registration will close 2 hours prior to this event. Hosted and sponsored by the Groton Public Library Endowment Trust, and made available to Westford residents.

Outdoor Adult Book Discussion Club: Thursday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m. For the summer we will be meeting outside and we will also have a laptop at the meeting for those who wish to tune in via Zoom.  Bring your bug spray and a comfy chair and meet us on the back lawn of the Library. Email Kristina at kleedberg@westfordma.gov for more information and Zoom details! At our June 10th meeting, we will discuss The Order by Daniel Silva. Copies are available now for Curbside Pickup  or download a copy from Overdrive.

Outdoor Tails, Tricks, and Tales Magic Show: Tue, June 29 at 6:30 p.m. Our ‘Tails and Tales’ Summer Reading Program kicks off with our favorite magician Mike Bent. Tails, Tricks, and Tales is a book-themed show uses hilarious comedy, amazing magic, games, music, sound effects, AND storytelling to motivate kids to get reading. For ages 4 and up. Please preregister for this live, in person show so we know how many to expect. Registration opens on June 7 through the Library Events Calendar.

Outdoor YA Book Club – Turtle Boy: Wednesday, June 30 at 3 p.m.: Open to young adults in grades 5-12. Join us to discuss M. Evan Wolkenstein’s award winning novel, Turtle Boy. “Seventh-grader Will’s Bar Mitzvah community service project, visiting an incurably ill older boy in the hospital, leads to a friendship that is life-changing for both of them and those around them.” Copies of the book are available to check out at the Main Desk. Registration is required and is limited to 15. Register for this program through the Library Events Calendar. We will meet outside on the back lawn. Bring a comfy chair. Snacks will be provided.
