With the approaching Westford Town Meeting on June 12, I would like to thank a wonderful civic organization, our local League of Women Voters whose (often overlooked) diligent efforts have helped create an informed community for these important annual meetings for over 50 years. Helping local candidates gather signatures during Covid times, publishing the yearly Voter’s Guide, organizing the Candidates’ Night Forum, encouraging youth at WA to get politically involved in local elections, celebrating the historic Women’s Suffrage Centennial, and providing a virtual Town Meeting preview are just some of the ways this dynamic organization has supported voter literacy here in Westford. The website, lwv.westford.org, has provided non-partisan information for the Westford community in both the annual town elections/meetings. Our democracy is built on this kind of service organization. Thank you. — Christine Robinson
