A town-wide yard sale brought in $600 for WestfordCAT on September 25, adding to the efforts of staff members and volunteers who have been chipping away at an approximate $20K budget gap.
“It feels good to create events that are a community benefit – people got to clean out unwanted items, WestfordCAT raised some funds on the donated goods and all the unsold treasures get donated to other nonprofits, such as the African Community Center of Lowell, which received many wonderful things for children,” said WCAT Board President, Kristi Bates.
Donated items for WestfordCAT’s yard sale included books, jewelry, household items and clothing. Donations began arriving several weeks prior to the date.
The weather cooperated, providing sunny skies and warm temperatures.
Task-force volunteers were joined by Aanya Krishnamurthy, an 8th Grader at Stony Brook, and Caroline Mallio, a 9th Grader at WA. Together the team managed the entire process .
