The Westford Police Department (WPD) recently issued a statement regarding another scam alert for the Westford area.

Last week, police in Westford reported that multiple residents around Westford had received calls from the Sudbury Police Department’s phone number, demanding them for money.

According to the Sudbury Police Department, they do “not collect fees associated with criminal or civil complaints,” which is what the scammers were allegedly claiming.

Sudbury Police also reported that the scammers were mimicking the department’s caller ID so that it would appear as their number.

They also reported that this should have no affect on the department’s ability to take or respond to calls.

The perpetrators behinds the scams currently remains under investigation by the Sudbury and Westford Police Departments.
