WESTFORD — Here’s the April 13 edition of the Wednesday Whiteboard, where we highlight important dates and events during the week in Westford. 

News and upcoming events around town

The League of Women Voters in Westford is hosting a virtual Candidate’s Night on Wednesday, April 13 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Voters are encouraged to submit questions online. Questions can submitted during the broadcast. The event will be streamed on WestfordCAT, YouTube and on the League’s website.

Westford Climate Action will be hosting multiple events, including a Saturday nature walk on April 16 at 9.a.m This week’s walk will take place at Burns Hill.

The organization, in partnership with the J.V. Fletcher Library, is hosting virtual Climate Change Conversation. Quentin Prideaux of The Climate Reality Project is hosting the forum.

The Westford Museum and Historical Society is hosting its first-ever Patriot’s Day Candlelight Tribute in the Old Division of Fairview Cemetery. The event will be held on Tuesday, April 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The J.V. Fletcher Library will be hosting additional events, found below:

  • Virtual Financial Literacy Workshops for Young Adults: Wed. Apr. 20, all at 7:00 p.m.
  • Virtual Passover PJ Story Time with PJ Library: Wednesday, April 13 at 6:30 pm.
  • WBZ-TV Meteorologist Sarah Wroblewski: Tues., April 19 at 11 a.m.
  • Turn Pizza Boxes into Pizza with Fat Moon Mushrooms: Tues., April 19 at 2:00 p.m.
  • Library Garden Installation with Fresh Start Food Gardens: Wed., April 20 at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 12 p.m.
  • Teen & Tween Upcycled Book Art: Wed., April 20 at 2:00 p.m.

WestfordCAT has added to its list of candidates. WestfordCAT recently spoke with J.V. Fletcher Library Board of Trustees incumbent Elizabeth “Buffie” Diercks, as well as incumbent Glen Secor on their reelection.

The station previously spoke with School Committee hopefuls Meghan O’ConnellDerek LoMarisol Garcia and Betsy Kwon, as well as committee incumbent Sean Kelly. In addition, WestfordCAT spoke with Board of Health hopeful Melissa Mackey, as well as incumbents Susan Hanly and Stephanie Granger on their candidacy.

Important municipal dates

The deadline to register to vote for the Annual Town Election is Wednesday, April 13 at 8 p.m.

Government Meetings

The Board of Assessors will meet on Friday, April 15 at 9 a.m. on the second floor of Town Hall in Conference Room B.

The Col. John Robinson Elementary School Advisory Council will meet Wednesday, April 13 at 3:30 p.m. at 60 Concord Road.

The Communications Advisory Council will meet virtually on Thursday, April 14 at 2 p.m.

The Conservation Commission will meet on Wednesday, April 13 at 7 p.m. at the meeting room of Town Hall.

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee will meet virtually on Wednesday, April 13 at 7 p.m.

The Recycling Commission will meet in-person in the Craft Room of the Cameron Senior Center on Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m.

The School Committee will meet virtually on Thursday, April 14 at 12:30 p.m.

The School Committee’s Policy Subcommittee will meet on Friday, April 15 at 9:30 a.m. in Room 16 of the Millennium Building.

The Tree Warden will meet virtually on Thursday, April 14 at 10:00 a.m.

A virtual open forum on the Tree and Invasive Species Inventory and Management Plan will be held on Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m.
