Westford Fire Department seeks information on brush fires

WESTFORD — Safety officials are seeking information regarding recent brush fires in Westford.

The wooded area near the American Legion Baseball Fields, Stony Brook Elementary and East Boston Camps have experienced four separate brush fires since March 31.

On March 31, the department responded to a fire that burned approximately 16 acres of conservation land.

On April 20, the department responded to two separate fires that burned an additional four acres. The department then responded to a fourth fire which burned approximately one acre on April 21.

Approximately 21 acres of conservation land have been affected since March 31.

“We are asking anyone who was visiting or lives near this area to contact us if you saw anything or anyone out of the ordinary on the evening of March 30 or early morning on March 31, yesterday (Wednesday April 20) between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., or today (Thursday April 21) between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.,” the department wrote on social media.

Residents living in the area are asked to check home security cameras and to report any suspicious activity.

The investigation is ongoing. Information can be directed to the Westford Public Safety Communication Center at 978-399-2345.
