Superintendent Chew recently gave an update about the start of spring break, upcoming Earth Day celebrations, and the approval of the 2022-23 school calendar by the Westford School Committee.

Spring break for all students at Westford Public Schools will officially begin on Tuesday, April 19, following a day off for Patriots Day on Monday.

During spring break, there will be Earth Day celebrations held on the Westford Common hosted by the Westford Climate Action Committee.

“The Climate Action Committee has come up with a lot of wonderful events throughout the month,” Chew said.

“It’s always a challenge with Earth Day taking place at the same time as spring break, so they have worked very hard to come up with events throughout the month of April,” he added.

Chew encourages everyone to visit the Climate Action Committee’s website to check out some of the activities they will be having for the week of Earth Day, including music, a traveling zoo, and many different guess speakers.

Westford’s middle school students as well as students from Westford Academy will also be participating in the events by making posters and doing different projects to celebrate Earth Day.

Chew also added that he encourages all students and faculty members at Westford Public Schools will take a COVID-19 rapid test before returning back to school the week after spring break in order to have a better understanding of the situation regarding COVID-19.

Finally, Chew also announced that the Westford School Committee approved the 2022-23 school calendar, which means that school events can begin to be planned for next year.

“I hope that everyone is able to enjoy some rest and relaxation next week,” Chew said.
