Voter Registration Deadline Approaching: Wednesday Whiteboard

WESTFORD — Here’s the May 18 edition of the Wednesday Whiteboard, where WestfordCAT highlights important dates and events during the week in Westford.

News and upcoming events around town

An annual cleanup of Ronin’s Playground will be held on Sunday, May 22 at 9 a.m.

Michelle Willson and the Evil Gal Festival Orchestra will play at the Parish Center for the Arts on Saturday, May 21 at 8 p.m.

The League of Women Voters is hosting its monthly Civics Social, which will feature an Access to Town Meeting Committee Progress report. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. Email info@lwv.westford.org for a link.

A temporary program is offering one week of free summer camp or one week of after-school care for low income families through the Westford Recreation Department. Parents who meet income eligibility guidelines can apply here.

The Police Department held a solemn tribute to its longtime K-9 Beny. Beny was an imported German Shepherd who helped on the scene of the 2013 Marathon Bombing. A send-off was held at the Westford Police Department on Monday.

The Federal Government is once again distributing free COVID-19 tests. This third round of distribution will include eight tests per household. Order additional tests here.

Important municipal dates

The deadline to register to vote for Annual Town Meeting is Friday, May 20 at 8 p.m. Residents can register to vote online or submit a mail-in voter registration form. 

Government Meetings

The Board of Water Commissioners will meet in-person on Thursday, May 19 at 9 a.m.

The Council on Aging will meet in-person on Wednesday, May 18 at 4 p.m.

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion School and Education Subcommittee will meet virtually on Wednesday, May 18 at 7 p.m.

The Miller School Advisory Council will meet virtually on Wednesday, May 18 at 6 p.m.

The School Committee Policy Subcommittee will meet virtually on Thursday, May 19 at 9:30 a.m.

The School Committee will meet virtually on Monday, May 23 at 7 p.m. Zoom registration is not yet posted. The meeting will be streamed by WestfordCAT on YouTube.

The Select Board will meet virtually on Tuesday, May 24 at 7 p.m. Zoom registration is not yet posted. The meeting will be streamed by WestfordCAT on YouTube.

The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet in-person on Wednesday, May 18 at 7 p.m.
