Westford Superintendent Christopher Chew gives his April 27th update from outside of the Abbot Elementary School in Westford, where he showed off the school’s new storywalk, which was created by district carpenter Keith Flanagan.
Flanagan created the story walk by selecting books periodically throughout the year, and displaying them along the outside of the school’s front lawn so that students can enjoy reading the books and reflecting on them.
“To celebrate Poetry Month, they have selected the book Out of Wonder by Kwame Alexander, which celebrates poets and poetry,” Chew said.
“This book contains a collection of poems that are about other poems,” he added. “Each stand on the storywalk is another poem for students to read.”
Chew continued his update by mentioning that during Monday night’s School Committee Meeting, he had the honor to introduce Magaly Rodriguez Ronan as the new Director of Equity, Curriculum and Instruction.
Rodriguez Ronan will be beginning her new position on July 1.
