WESTFORD — The Westford Fire Department (WFD) and Westford Police Department (WPD) joined Westford’s veterans to march in the annual Memorial Day Parade on Sunday.

“The Westford Police Department Honor Guard had the privilege and the honor of standing shoulder to shoulder with Westford’s Veterans and the Westford Fire Department Honor Guard today,” the WPD announced on social media, “as they honored the nation’s soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice and never made it back home to their families.”

“Never forget” the department added referring to the men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces and gave their lives to protect the freedom of the American people.

This special honor was part of the annual Westford Memorial Day Parade, which took place this past Sunday, May 29, following special ceremonies honoring veterans at Freedom Park, the Forge Village monument, the Graniteville monument, Nab Lake, and Byrne Ave. dam.

The parade then continued down Main Street and Lincoln Street through the town center of Westford before ending at the town’s Veteran’s Memorial at the Tow Common, where the reading of the Honor Rolls took place.
