WESTFORD — The Technology Department plans to expand its existing fiber optic network.
The department received a $19,000 Municipal Fiber Grant to connect the office at Pine Grove Cemetery to the existing town-owned network.
“It’s just about the only building left to connect,” Technology Department Director Mike Wells told WestfordCAT. “It’ll allow us to have better connectivity, as well as for cameras and doors.
The project is slated to begin this summer, with Wells estimating the upgrade to completed by the end of the season.
“We’ve issued a purchase order, but we don’t want them to start until the next fiscal year, which is Friday,” he said. “It’ll most likely be done by the end of summer.”
