WESTFORD — Assistant Library Director Kristina Leedberg has shared the most recent edition of “What’s Happening at the Library?” with WestfordCAT.

Unless otherwise noted, programs are generously funded by the Friends of the Library, Inc.

Director’s Corner: In addition to the Roudenbowl, check out our many awards and certificates on display in the New Books area. The J.V. Fletcher Library is an award-winning library recognized by the Commonwealth for service and creativity.

It’s Finally here – Friends of the Library June Book Sale!: The June Book Sale will take place in the Meeting Room, Friday, June 3- Sunday, June 5.  On Friday night from 6:30-9:00 p.m. there will be a Members Only Preview Sale. Memberships will be available to purchase at the door or purchase one online. The sale will be open to the public on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  On Sunday, June 5, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. purchase a bag to fill for $5.00.

Summer Reading Programs for All Ages! This summer we have exciting programs and prizes lined up for children, young adults, and adults.  The majority of ourprogram offerings will take place outside on the back lawn.Check out the Children’s Summer Reading page ,Teens Summer Reading page and the Adult Summer Reading Page for more information. Please call or email us with any questions on these exciting summer-long programs.

Adult Nonfiction Book Club:  Tues., June 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room. We’ll meet in the downstairs Meeting Room. We’ll discuss The Greater Journey: Americans In Paris by David McCullough. Adult Book Discussion Club: Thu., June 9 at 7:30 p.m.Join us to discuss The Grapes of Wrath, by John Steinbeck. Copies are available at Main Desk. E-book and audiobook copies are also available for download from Overdrive. Email Kristina Leedberg at kleedberg@westfordma.gov for details!

Hikes Through History: Thu., June 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room Ever wandered through the woods and wondered who was there before you? Many Massachusetts parks and trails are in historical sites. Author Alison O’Leary, award-winning journalist and coauthor of the AMC’s new guide Best Day Hikes NearBoston, will share her favorites. Using maps and historic photos, she describes several Massachusetts day trip destinations with historical significance and interesting features. Includes varying levels of difficulty (flat and easy to steep and challenging) and variety of scenery. Register here.

Adventure is Out There Magic Show with Mike Bent: Wed., June 22 at 1:00 p.m. on the Back Lawn TheSummer reading program kicks off with our favorite magician Mike Bent. This is Mike’s 11th summer reading show with us! This book themed show uses hilarious comedy, amazing magic, music, sound effects, AND storytelling to motivate kids to get reading. Registration opens Mon., June 6.

Did You Know? If you belong to a book club in town, the Library can order multiple copies of your club’s current selection and keep them on hold for your members to check out at the Main Desk.  Currently, over 36 book clubs order books through us.  If you would like more information, contact Charles Schweppe.

Staff Recommends: Our Head of Reference and Information, Sarah Regan, leads our Mystery Book Club but she also enjoys nonfiction.  If you are a “foodie” you should check out “Taste: My Life Through Food” by Stanley Tucci.Tucci shared the magic of his Italian American family’s meals in The Tucci Cookbook and The Tucci Table, and now he takes us beyond the savory recipes and into the compelling stories behind them.”
