WESTFORD — A broken sprinkler pipe has left some residents at a Westford Housing Authority Property temporarily displaced.
Westford Fire Department responded to a fire alarm activation at Mystery Springs at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 26. According to the department, 12 units on the first and second floor of the property sustained “extensive” water damage.
Units within the building unaffected by water damage were inspected and considered safe for residents to return.
Some residents in units impacted by the damage relocated with family, while others were placed in temporary shelter at a local hotel by the Chelmsford Housing Authority.
According to the department, Good Pickin’ Farm transported a number of residents to temporary shelter in its bovine-inspired bus “Mootilda.”
“We’d like to thank the residents of Mystery Springs for being patient while the team sorted things out,” wrote the department on social media. “We understand that there’s never a good time for something like this to occur, and during the holiday season makes it even more difficult.”
