State offers gift cards for updated booster
According to state data, a vast majority of residents have yet to adopt the updated bivalent COVID-19 booster that became widely available in September.
According to Department of Public Health data, less than 25% of Massachusetts’ approximately 5.6 million fully vaccinated residents have received their second booster. Over 60% of fully vaccinated residents have received their first booster.
In an effort to increase booster uptake, the state is hosting over 200 walk-in clinics offering $75 gift cards to anyone who gets their shot through the holiday season.
Each clinic is located the the state’s 20 “Vaccine Equity Initiative” cities, as well as an additional 10 municipalities with the lowest booster rates.
Children as young as 5-years-old can receive the new bivalent boosters. A full list of clinics can be found online.
