WESTFORD — Here’s the April 12 edition of Wednesday Whiteboard, where WestfordCAT highlights important dates and events during the week in and around Westford.

News and upcoming events around town

A number of committees have open seats. Apply online.

Kimball Farm opened its ice cream counter on March 30. It’s driving range, pitch and putt and grill and seafood counter are open. The remainder of the farm is slated to open next week.

Helena Crocker Residence housing lottery is set to begin for seniors aged 62 and older. 10 one bedroom and eight studio units will be available, with occupancy set to begin in October. An informational session will be hosted at the Cameron Senior Center on April 26 at noon.

From Westford Climate Action:

Westford Climate Action will host its second annual Earth Month in April. The organization’s Earth Day Festival will be held on April 22 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

From the Westford Recycling Commission:

The Recycling Commission will host a household hazardous waste collection on April 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Highway Department.

The Recycling Commission will host brush chipping on April 22 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Highway Department.

The Recycling Commission will host an electronics collection on April 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Highway Department.

From the League of Women Voters:

The League of Women Voters of Westford is hosting a Candidates’ Night on Wednesday, April 12, at 7:00 p.m. in the J.V. Fletcher Library’s first floor meeting room. Candidates’ Night gives voters an opportunity to hear from those who are running in the May 2nd Town election for Select Board, Board of Health, Library Trustees, Town Moderator, Planning Board, and School Committee. 

Questions for the candidates can be submitted prior to Candidates’ Night by going to the LWV website at lwv.westford.org. Attendees may also submit written questions during the event. Jo-Ann Berry of the Acton Area League will moderate the evening. Westford CAT will be on hand to air the event live and to record it, and will post the recording on its cable channel and on YouTube shortly thereafter. 

From the Westford Rotary:

Something new at the Westford Kiwanis Apple Blossom Festival this year.  On Sunday, May 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm will be the Westford Rotary Club Golf Ball Drop by Helicopter.

Annual Town Meeting results have been posted online. 

Vote by mail applications are now available.

Government meetings 

The Conservation Commission will meet on April 12 at 7 p.m.

The Miller School Advisory Council will meet virtually on April 12 at 6 p.m.

The Pedestrian Safety Committee will meet on April 12 at 2 p.m.

The Recycling Commission will meet on April 12 at 7 p.m.

The Scholarship and Grant Committee will meet virtually on April 13 at 3:30 p.m.

The School Committee Policy Subcommittee will meet on April 14 at 9 a.m.
