WESTFORD — The following release was shared with WestfordCAT from the office of Rep. James Arciero for publication and distribution.

State Representative James Arciero recently joined with the India Association of Greater Boston, known as the IAGB, to recognize the 76th anniversary of the independence of India and to celebrate Indian Americans’ contributions to the world and to Westford.

As part of the annual event, the third held on Westford Common, members of the Indian community gathered to sign both the American and Indian national anthems.

Following remarks by Vaishali Gade, the IAGB president, Representative Arciero and Selectman Scott Hazelton, the national flag of India was raised to join with the American flag.

The India Association of Greater Boston is the oldest and one of the leading Indian American community organizations in New England. It is a non-political, non-religious group that seeks to foster a stronger Indian-American social, cultural, and community presence in Massachusetts.
