DESCRIPTION:The PCA’s annual tradition continues this year with the return of music from a holiday classic\, presented by the very talented Aidan Scrimgeour and friends! This family set features music from “A Charlie Brown Christmas\,” originally performed by the Vince Guaraldi Trio. \nThe 4pm show runs ~60 minutes. The extended evening show begins at 7pm. Cabaret-style seating (tables & chairs)\, with room to dance along in the Gallery! Doors open at 3:30pm and 6:30pm\, respectively. Advance ticket purchases are strongly recommended\, as this event sells out every year. \nPCA favorite Aidan Scrimgeour is a musician\, composer and educator based in Brooklyn (NY). Growing up in Salem (MA)\, Aidan was inspired by the energy and talent of the local North Shore music scene and started performing locally at restaurants and jazz clubs as a teenager. After spending a couple years at New England Conservatory\, he graduated with a B.A. in Performance & Representation from Tufts University. Along with Roy Nathanson of the Jazz Passengers\, he co-founded the 5pm Porch Concerts Program\, an educational and performance collective that emerged from their daily concerts throughout the pandemic. His other projects include Pumpkin Bread\, a Boston-based acoustic band\, and Lissy & the Jacks\, a Brooklyn-based honky-tonk group. Aidan performs regularly with a variety of groups in New York and co-leads the Multigenerational Playing for the Light Big Band\, a large ensemble that performs original music and poetry composed by Brooklyn teens. DESCRIPTION:Community Christmas Chorus will present its annual concert to benefit the Westford Food Pantry on Sun.\, Dec. 14\, at 7:00 p.m. at First Parish Church United\, 84 Main St. Under the direction of Rene Minalga-Rheault\, the 32 voice choir will perform sacred songs dating from the high renaissance to the 21st century\, plus a lively arrangement of “Jingle Bells.” The women’s ensemble will perform a work by contemporary composer Ola Gjeilo. The program includes a solo performance by Donna Olson\, a Westford native and Boston Conservatory graduate who has performed in opera and oratorios throughout the U.S. The program also includes an audience carol sing-a-long. Suggested donation for admission is $5 a person\, $15 a family\, plus 2 non-perishable food items for the pantry.

For information about this and all upcoming concerts at the PCA\, call (978) 692-6333 or visit pcawestford.org.\nLed by Ethan Robbins (vocals/guitar/mandolin) and Ariel Bernstein (vocals/percussion/banjo)\, the Boston-based duo released their fifth full-length album in the Fall of 2023. “We’re growing as a band\, and I think that shows in our songwriting\,” says Robbins. “This album was a leaping off point for many more new albums to come\, and that’s an exciting prospect\,” adds Bernstein. Cold Chocolate is currently on tour supporting their latest album\, “Now That’s What I Call Cold Chocolate\, vol. 1.” \nPunctuated by tight harmonies and skillful musicianship\, Cold Chocolate has quickly gained recognition for their original music and high-energy shows. The band has shared bills with Leftover Salmon\, David Grisman\, and Angelique Kidjo\, and regularly performs at venues and music festivals across the country. There’s an almost mystical connection between his guitar and the notes that flow out of it.”\nAs for the band’s intriguing name and the story behind it\, “it came from a childhood memory of mine\,” says Robbins. “When my brothers and I used to visit my Grandfather in Wilkes Barre (PA)\, the whole drive there from DC we’d be in the backseat talking about the frozen Milky Way bars that awaited us in his freezer. I still remember pulling into his driveway after a six-hour drive. He’d come out to meet us–arms wide open for a hug–and the three of us would shoot right past him\, headed straight for the freezer\, where awaited us the King Size Milky Way Bars. DESCRIPTION:Tim Ray’s wide-ranging skills as a soloist and accompanist have afforded him the opportunity to perform with legendary performers from all walks of music. He is perhaps best known as Tony Bennett’s most recent pianist and musical director\, appearing in concerts with him until his retirement in 2020. Featured on over 100 recordings to date\, Tim has performed in concert with an extensive list of pop music icons\, notably Aretha Franklin\, Lyle Lovett\, Jane Siberry and Soul Asylum. He regularly performs with leading figures in the jazz world\, among them Kurt Elling\, Gary Burton\, Esperanza Spalding\, Phil Woods\, Terri Lyne Carrington\, Scott Hamilton\, Dave Douglas\, John Patitucci\, Brian Blade\, Lewis Nash and Rufus Reid; and his classical credits include solo performances and concerts with Gunther Schuller\, the Boston Pops\, and the Boston Modern Orchestra Project. Tim’s busy schedule has included frequent tours throughout the Americas\, Canada\, Mexico\, Europe\, Asia\, and the Middle East\, and has included performances at Carnegie Hall\, the White House\, the Kennedy Center and the 1992 Presidential Inauguration. Tim has also performed repeatedly on “The Tonight Show” (Johnny Carson\, Jay Leno)\, “Late Night with David Letterman\,” “The Conan O’Brien Show\,” “Austin City Limits” and various other national TV and radio broadcasts. DESCRIPTION:Grammy Award-nominated guitarist and composer Dr. José Lezcano returns to the PCA with an All-Cuban program including contradanzas by Ignacio Cervantes and works by Leo Brouwer (including earlier works like Danza Caracteristica\, Danza del Altiplano\, and his arrangement of Grenet’s “Drume Negrita\,” also known as Afro-Cuban Lullaby). Dr. Lezcano will also perform original works including “Bolero Manaba” and “Mojito and Habano\,” in popular Cuban style and an original arrangement of hits from “Buena Vista Social Club.” \nJosé Lezcano has performed hundreds of concerts for over 30 years on four continents. In programs of Spanish\, South American and original works\, he has appeared in major venues\, university series\, and festivals\, including Carnegie Recital Hall\, Cuba\, Trinidad & Tobago\, Spain\, Portugal\, Ecuador\, Colombia\, Peru\, Brazil\, China\, Germany\, Crete\, China\, Slovakia\, and the Czech Republic. Internationally he has appeared with the Orquesta Solistas de la Habana\, Cuba; National Symphony of Ecuador; the National Symphony of Peru; the Orchestra of Tolima (Colombia); The Loja Symphony (Ecuador); the Quito Chamber Orchestra; Regionally with the Portsmouth Symphony and Granite State Symphonies (NH); and the South Carolina Philharmonic\, in concerti by Rodrigo\, Castelnuovo-Tedesco\, Vivaldi\, Giuliani\, and Lezcano himself. José serves as Artist Lecturer at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham\, and as Professor Emeritus of Music at Keene State College and Coordinator of Guitar. \nGeneral admission recital seating. Doors open 3:15pm. Pre-concert lecture begins at 3:30pm.
