Composting diverts food wastes from the trash and reduces the high cost of Westford’s trash collection. Organic material can represent up to 20% of the weight of our trash.\nEarth Machines composters will be available to Westford residents at the demonstrations for only $25 each at a discount from a state grant. SUMMARY:Summer Concert Series on Chelmsford Common
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, the Chelmsford Community Band continues its decades-long tradition of providing live musical performances on Chelmsford Town Common. Bring your folding chairs and your blankets and set yourself up on the grass as the summer heat switches over to the cool of evening\, the stars come out\, and local volunteer musicians share with the community their love of music. \nThe band’s 7pm Tuesday series starts on July 14 with the Jazz Ensemble\, directed by Art Bakopolus\, and they will also perform on July 28 and August 11. On the alternating Tuesdays\, you will be able to hear the Concert Band under the direction of Eric Linsner performing programs of show tunes\, marches\, and light Americana on July 21\, August 4\, and August 18. This summer series has been made possible with a grant from the Chelmsford Cultural Council. \nThe Chelmsford Community Band is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and has a 75-piece concert band and a 20-piece jazz ensemble made of dedicated volunteer musicians with a proud tradition of bringing live musical performances to this community since 1972. They depend on grants from local businesses\, arts organizations such as the Chelmsford Cultural Council\, and your donations. DESCRIPTION:Attention music lovers!\nThe Carlisle Music Festival celebrates its milestone 5th anniversary on Sunday\, June 21. To celebrate in style\, they’ve assembled a packed lineup of great musicians from Carlisle and the greater Boston area. The Festival features many genres of music and is free to attend. With 11 live music performances running nonstop from noon to 7 PM on two tented stages\, plus kids’ activities\, snack food and ice cream\, it’s a great way for the whole family to enjoy an early summer day outdoors on Spalding Field in beautiful Carlisle. Trained at Goldsmiths London University\, the Berklee College of Music jazz program\, and the Vermont Jazz Center\, Olivia toured in the U.S.\, performed at music festivals in the UK and played clubs in London\, Paris\, and Amsterdam. Olivia also composed for modern dance\, recorded solo and with various bands and ensembles\, incorporating rock\, new-grass\, punk-pop\, and jazz influences. As an emerging artist\, Olivia’s skilled musicianship has gained the attention of many. Fender Guitars has been promoting video of her improvisational playing which has accrued 14\,000 views on the company’s social media platform!Olivia’s latest solo album “Just Enough” is a collection of original songs that cross genres blending elements of folk\, rock and roll\, pop-punk and R&B and lyrically drawing from her lived experience as a neurodivergent\, transgender young person pursuing radical joy against all odds. Olivia sang lead and harmony vocals and played and arranged all guitar\, bass\, piano\, synthesizer\, violin and percussion parts on the record as well.
