SUMMARY:Holiday Concert with the Chelmsford Community Band
DESCRIPTION:Get your holiday cheer properly established with the Chelmsford Community Concert Band at their annual holiday concert Sunday\, December 15th\, at 2pm at McCarthy Middle School. This year’s program includes the requisite favorites like Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride” and the magnificently powerful “Russian Christmas Music” by Alfred Reed\, but there are also multiple pieces that switch things up. The band will be casting familiar songs into a minor key with Lovrien’s “Minor Alterations\,” mashing them up in “Stars and Stripes for Christmas\,” and casting them into a New Orleans jazz feel with “A New Orleans Nutcracker Suite.” This performance also features stunning vocal solos and is not to be missed. \nAdmission to the concert is free\, but donations are always very gratefully accepted so that the band can continue to operate. Suggested donations are $10 for adults and $20 for families. There will also be a fundraising raffle of fun seasonal items and baked goods available for an additional donation. \nHaving recently celebrated its golden anniversary\, the Chelmsford Community Band has a 60-piece concert band and a 20-piece jazz ensemble made of dedicated volunteer musicians with a proud tradition of bringing live musical performances to this community since 1972. They are supported by grants from the Mass Cultural Council\, local towns\, and your donations. DESCRIPTION:The Funky Divas of Gospel began their musical journey in the 1980s on the seacoast of New Hampshire. Over the years they have performed in many different forms\, sometimes as a small band and other times with a 30 person gospel choir. Countless musicians and singers have been part of The Divas\, some sitting in for one show and some playing for many years. All those steps along the way have led to a close knit group of gospel performers united by the music they love. Today the group is led by long time area musicians; guitarist and singer Dan Poland\, bassist Tom Kesel\, Pete Leavenworth playing pedal steel\, dobro and banjo and drummer Bob Thibodeau. They are joined by vocalists Diane Sanborn Arabian\, Carolyn Hutton and Vicky Poland \nRegardless of the players\, The Diva purpose has always remained the same – to share great music. The spirit that flows through their songs is universal and tells stories as old as time. They are performers who love entertaining audiences. Their music is roots music. It is harmony. It is hard rockin’ and reflective. It is toe tapping\, it is hand clapping and it can\, and does\, move audiences to their feet and into the aisles to dance. DESCRIPTION:Can’t have cheer without Sleigh Ride? The Chelmsford Community Band has you covered. Ring in the holiday season with them as the concert band performs classical seasonal favorites on Sunday\, December 10th\, at 2pm at McCarthy Middle School. \nAdmission to the concert is free\, but donations are always very gratefully accepted so that the band can continue to operate. Suggested donations are $10 for adults and $20 for families. There will also be a fundraising raffle of fun seasonal items and baked goods available for an additional donation. \nHaving recently celebrated its golden anniversary\, the Chelmsford Community Band has a 60-piece concert band and a 20-piece jazz ensemble made of dedicated volunteer musicians with a proud tradition of bringing live musical performances to this community since 1972. They are supported by multiple Mass Cultural Council grants\, including one for Cultural Sector Recovery.
