SUMMARY:Spring Concert with the Chelmsford Community Band
DESCRIPTION:The two ensembles of the Chelmsford Community Band are joining together again for their annual joint Spring performance at 2pm on Sunday\, June 1\, at the Chelmsford High School Performing Arts Center. The Jazz Ensemble\, under the direction of Art Bakopolus\, will bring a program of lively jazz and swing standards\, and the Concert Band\, under the direction of Eric Linsner\, will be celebrating the sounds of New Orleans with music inspired by Cajun folk songs\, New Orleans jazz traditions\, and a medley from Disney’s The Princess and the Frog. \nAdmission to these community concerts is always free\, but the band greatly appreciates donations that cover their expenses and make it possible to rent rehearsal space and buy music. Suggested donations are $10 for an individual or $20 for a family. \nHaving recently celebrated its golden anniversary\, the Chelmsford Community Band has a 70-piece concert band and a 20-piece jazz ensemble made of dedicated volunteer musicians with a proud tradition of bringing live musical performances to this community since 1972. They are supported by grants from the Chelmsford Cultural Council\, other local towns\, and your donations. Follow them on Facebook\, Instagram\, or BlueSky\, and find them online at www.chelmsfordcommunityband.com.

SUMMARY:6/7-8/25: Cheryl Wheeler with Special Guest Kenny White
DESCRIPTION:Nothing you read and nothing you hear from her albums prepares you for how good a performer Cheryl Wheeler is. She is very respected as a songwriter by her peers\, which can be seen by how many of them cover and record her songs… Dan Seals\, Peter Paul and Mary\, Kenny Loggins\, Garth Brooks\, Suzy Boggus\, Melanie\, Bette Midler\, Maura O’Connell\, Sylvia\, Kathy Mattea\, and Holly Near. If they think she is great\, then you owe it to yourself to learn more if you aren’t familiar with her! Cheryl’s songs are often emotional portraits of people\, leaving you with the impression that you know the characters. You find yourself being dragged into the song rather than standing outside and observing. Other songs are hilarious situation comedies. Cheryl’s concerts are more like what you would find at a comedy club than expect to find at a folk music concert. She will tell a story that has you rolling in the aisles\, and then sing a song that leaves you wiping tears from your eyes. She will talk about some serious current event\, and then sing a song that will have you howling with laughter. Her concerts an emotional roller coaster… but not scary… and without the nausea. \nHailed by reviewers from the New York Times to the San Francisco Chronicle for his “thrilling” and “unique” piano playing\, KENNY WHITE is a talented singer-songwriter and a successful NYC-based record producer. He has written\, performed\, and produced music for hundreds of TV and radio commercials as well as film soundtracks\, and has toured with stars like Judy Collins\, Stephen Stills and Tom Jones\, among others. \nThis is a special 2-day PCA event not to be missed! June 7\, 2025 at 7:30pm; June 8\, 2025 at 3pm. BYOB & snacks. Cabaret seating (that you really should purchase in advance… trust us!) \nSponsored by Alan Bell\, AAMS\, Edward Jones/Littleton\, MA

SUMMARY:6/13/25: Soggy Po Boys
DESCRIPTION:The Soggy Po Boys\, native to New England\, have quickly become an institution. They are spreading the good news of New Orleans music across the northeast and beyond\, playing at concert halls and street corners; music festivals and burlesque festivals; bars and libraries; wherever the party requires. The band formed in 2012 to shake the walls of a local club on a Fat Tuesday but have honed their sound and become more than a Mardi Gras centerpiece. Exploring the vast musical traditions of New Orleans and expanding their repertoire to look beyond NOLA jazz\, the band includes traditional Caribbean tunes (it’s been said that New Orleans is the northernmost city in the Caribbean)\, as well as Meters funk\, soul\, and brass band / street beat music. \nCabaret Seating. BYOB & Snacks. \nThe PCA Coffeehouse Series is generously sponsored by Enterprise Bank/Westford.

SUMMARY:6/14/25: Elliot Steger Jazz Trio
DESCRIPTION:Elliot Steger started playing piano as soon as he could sit on the piano bench. He started formal classical lessons at age 4 and continued from that point forward. When it was time to decide whether to pursue a career in music or in the sciences\, his thought was that he could always play music\, so he chose a “day job as a physician. Fast forward to about 30\, and Steger began 20 years of lessons from a Berklee College of Music professor. He started composing and performing more\, and is now credited with multiple CDs\, over 100 song compositions\, and was even a finalist in a competition among over 100\,000 songs for best jazz instrumental song of the year. Steger was featured artist on jazz radio WICN’s Jazz New England program and has played at many venues in the Boston area. \nThe other 2/3rds of Steger’s Trio are John Hazilla (drums) and Dave Landoni (bass). \nSteger donates all proceeds from CD sales and performances to medical charities including the Alzheimer’s Association\, the American Cancer Society and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
