DESCRIPTION:The PCA’s Classical Series is proud to present chamber trio the Essex Piano Trio (EPT) on January 18 at 4pm. After playing together for several years throughout New England\, the musical friends known as EPT formalized their working relationship in 2017 with a primary goal to grow as musicians while sharing the best music possible with audiences. All from Essex County communities along Boston’s North Shore\, violinist Ashley Offret of Salem\, cellist David Cabral of Lynn\, and pianist Beverly Soll of Rockport believe that their “Conversation among Friends” approach reflects their relationship to the music and to each other. EPT members bring many perspectives from their academic backgrounds and professional lives as educators and performers to their collective as a trio. Beverly Soll (University of Illinois and University of Maryland) holds a DMA in chamber music/piano. Ashley Offret is a (University of Maine) and music historian (MM\, University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music). David Cabral studied at the Boston Conservatory but works as the chief echocardiographer at Boston Medical Center’s Department of Pediatric Cardiology. DESCRIPTION:Fódhla brings both high energy and stellar artistry to the traditional music stage. The trio’s sound is firmly rooted in the traditional Irish melodies and ornamentation that fiddler Ellery Klein and flute player Nicole Rabata honed during years spent abroad in Ireland’s cities Cork\, Limerick and Ennis. Fiddle and flute tunes are superbly supported by guitarist Bethany Waickman\, whose inventive\, tasteful chords unfold with driving rhythm perfected from years of playing for contradances. Cognizant of their North American roots\, Fódhla aims to appeal to a broad audience by bringing variety\, inventive harmonies and unique arrangements to traditional music. A typical concert starts off with high-energy traditional sets of Irish reels and jigs\, includes trade melody and harmonies and a joyful and toe-tapping pair of barn dances soaring out on a high note. DESCRIPTION:Local histories have often overlooked Westford’s Col Robinson’s military career\, but the discovery of the regiment’s orderly book in 2003 shed light on his contributions during the latter part of the siege and those of 14 other Westford men. Dan Lacroix\, a scholar of 18th-century Westford history\, will explore the siege’s progress and how the orderly book provides insight into the experiences of local men who served during that time.

SUMMARY:An Evening with Antje Duvekot
DESCRIPTION:Originally born in Germany and transplanted to the U.S. as a young teen\, Antje Duvekot began to hone her observational skills through a lens of biculturalism when she picked up a guitar during that move. Some years later\, the confessional folk of Dar Williams and Ani DiFranco gave her license to share her observations\, no matter how personal. Antje has extensive touring experience. She is a compelling live performer and has been invited to play top festivals\, such as the Newport Folk Festival\, Mountain Stage\, Philadelphia\, and Kerrville Festivals and others. Internationally\, she’s headlined the Celtic Connections Festival in Scotland and the Tonder Festival in Denmark. Antje has won some of the top songwriting awards\, including the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition and the “Best New Folk Award” at Kerrville. In one of the nation’s top music markets\, she won the Boston Music Award for “Outstanding Folk Act”. She has appeared on various NPR programs. Antje’s five studio albums\, including her latest\, “New Wild West”\, were produced by Mark Erelli\, Seamus Egan of SOLAS\, Richard Shindell\, and Scott Petito\, respectively\, and feature support from Anais Mitchell\, John Gorka\, Lucy Kaplansky\, Sean Mullins\, Liz Longley\, Mark Erelli\, and Kris Delmhorst\, among others. \nCabaret Seating. DESCRIPTION:Artists of all ages are invited to enter the Stronger Together: Art for Democracy competition\, with cash prizes and no entry fee. Two-dimensional art will be accepted until April 10\, 2026.\nArt is a powerful tool for social change. Unbound by age\, culture or social location\, it sparks the imagination and promotes meaningful dialogue. With the goal of encouraging civic engagement\, artists across New England are invited to submit works on the theme of protecting and strengthening American democracy. Successful entries will express the goals of promoting unity and the common good\, which underscores the American ideals that all voices are important and that our strength lies in welcoming diverse perspectives. \nPrize money of $1000 will be shared in youth and adult categories.
