SUMMARY:Mike Payette's Three-Hour Tour
DESCRIPTION:Mike Payette (bass\, vocals) returns to the PCA with a new band called “Three Hour Tour”. This new band will entertain you with soft yacht rock music with 70’s-80’s smooth vibes\, great songs\, and tight harmonies. Think Michael McDonald\, Doobie Brothers\, Christopher Cross\, Kenny Loggins\, Toto\, Steely Dan\, Ambrosia\, and more. \nThis new music project came to life when Mike Payette was subbing for a musician in the band No Static (a Steely Dan tribute band). During the break\, he told the drummer Barry Lit that he’d like to put together a Yacht Rock show\, to which Barry replied “I’m IN!”… and so the THREE HOUR TOUR began. \nMike has gathered his musician friends of kindred spirits to be part of this new band that includes keyboards\, sax & trumpet\, and background singers. Many of them know a thing or two about Yacht Rock from their time playing with Barry Lit in No Static\, as well as other music projects Payette has worked with.

SUMMARY:Hot Skillet Club
DESCRIPTION:The talented artists making up Hot Skillet Club are Liza Constable (Guitar/Vocals)\, Val Blachly (Bass/Vocals) and Ellen Carlson (Fiddle/Vocals). \nLiza’s strong alto and rhythmic ease brings the band right into it’s vintage jazz roots. A guitar player since childhood\, her bands have been various\, her interests eccentric\, and her passions notable. Tex-Mex\, Cajun\, New England fiddle tunes\, delta blues\, she has the unusual talent to play many genres and leave you a believer. You may have seen her in perfromance with Les Flames D’Enfer\, Chanterelle\, Rumblestrip\, The Sevens\, BabaRay\, Swing a Cat and/or The Blue Ox. \nVal is a smooth one. She plays a stick bass\, and finds those high harmonies. Raised in a family of classical singers\, Val started off in the world of opera\, which led seamlessly to bluegrass\, and then vintage jazz. You have heard her in former bands including Sweet Hot and Sassy\, Mink Hills Band\, Swing a Cat and Honest Millie. Her upright bass playing and smooth vocals are a delight. She has five albums to her credit\, one of which is all original songs for children. \nEllen comes from a family of musicians\, learned traditional fiddle tunes\, then explored different styles – including hot jazz while at the summer camp “Django in June”\, taking workshops with Jason Anick and Tim Kliphuis. You’ve seen her in Sweet Hot and Sassy\, Honest Millie and her bluegrass band High Range. Ellen brings diverse playful playing to the Hot Skillet Club as well as her resonant alto voice. She has six albums with her own groups as well as numerous other recording sessions. \nTickets are $18 for PCA Members; $20 in advance; and $25 at the door (if available)

SUMMARY:Chelmsford Community Band Concert
DESCRIPTION:Winter in New England is not for the faint-hearted\, but Robert Frost wrote\, “Yet all the precedent is on my side: / I know that winter death has never tried / The earth but it has failed\,” and he asserted that by April\, nothing will be left white. In the meantime\, forget about the cold season and enjoy a concert by the Chelmsford Community Concert Band\, which will be performing at 2pm on Sunday\, March 10\, at the Chelmsford High School’s Performing Arts Center. The program they will present is varied and broad\, including two marches composed 100 years apart\, memorial music celebrating the joy of a life well lived\, a fantastic latin flute duet\, and selections from the Sound of Music. \nAdmission to the concert is free\, but donations are always very gratefully accepted so that the band can continue to operate. Suggested donations are $10 for adults and $20 for families. If the concert leaves you peckish\, they will have a table of baked goods you can take home for an additional donation. \nHaving recently celebrated its golden anniversary\, the Chelmsford Community Band has a 65-piece concert band and a 20-piece jazz ensemble made of dedicated volunteer musicians with a proud tradition of bringing live musical performances to this community since 1972. They are supported by multiple Mass Cultural Council grants\, including one for Cultural Sector Recovery. Follow them on Facebook\, Instagram\, or Twitter\, and find them online at www.chelmsfordcommunityband.com.

SUMMARY:Sugar Kings
DESCRIPTION:Sugar Kings is a Boston-based quartet known for their dynamic live performances\, rich harmonies\, intense musicianship and ability to transcend genres with an authenticity rarely heard. In their world\, respect is paid to the forefathers and traditions of Afro-Cuban Son\, Salsa and Rumba-Flamenca but Sugar Kings (named after a Cuban baseball team) also actively draw on influences from nearly every continent in their unique roots-rock-reggae repertoire. All are highly accomplished on their instruments\, however the true magic of Sugar Kings is how these four individuals come together to put on a performance worthy of any festival\, party\, club or concert hall. Every show is an intimate dialogue between the band and their audience\, with both sides communicating in a manner that is spontaneous\, passionate\, thoughtful and joyous. \n“Patino Vazquez (vocals\, guitar\, tres)\, is a dynamic performer and singer who is at once approachable\, intimate and completely mesmerizing. Add in the African-influenced undulations of Mikael Mersha (vocals\, bass/contrabass)\, the soaring\, take-you-for-a-ride solos and harmonic accompaniment by Daniel Abreu (saxophone\, piano\, vocals) and the soulful voice and talents of Tony Curtis Hall (drums\, percussion\, vocals) and it’s impossible for a party to stop from breaking out\, wherever Sugar Kings perform.” \nThis event is Sponsored by Alan Bell\, AAMS™\, Financial Advisor.\n222 Great Rd\, Ste 8\, Littleton\, MA – (978) 486-1059 Office (617) 799-8680 Mobile\nwww.edwardjones.com/us-en/financial-advisor/alan-bell

SUMMARY:RAKISH
DESCRIPTION:Maura Shawn Scanlin and Conor Hearn knowingly draw on the music they grew up with and perform it with their own slant. In a performance that is something more akin to concert music\, Rakish explores tunes and songs from Irish and American folk traditions in a way that reflects their shared interest in and love for chamber and improvised music. Rakish has performed on Front Row Boston\, Brian O’Donovan’s 2020 “A Christmas Celtic Sojourn\,” the Burren Backroom Series\, and they can be heard on broadcasts of GBH’s “A Celtic Sojourn.” They have appeared at esteemed festivals including the Boston Celtic Music Festival\, the Bellingham Irish Music Festival\, and the Rockport Celtic Music Festival.
