DESCRIPTION:Originally born in Germany and transplanted to the U.S. as a young teen\, Antje Duvekot began to hone her observational skills through a lens of biculturalism when she picked up a guitar during that move. Some years later\, the confessional folk of Dar Williams and Ani DiFranco gave her license to share her observations\, no matter how personal. Antje has extensive touring experience. She is a compelling live performer and has been invited to play top festivals\, such as the Newport Folk Festival\, Mountain Stage\, Philadelphia\, and Kerrville Festivals and others. Internationally\, she’s headlined the Celtic Connections Festival in Scotland and the Tonder Festival in Denmark. Antje has won some of the top songwriting awards\, including the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition and the “Best New Folk Award” at Kerrville. In one of the nation’s top music markets\, she won the Boston Music Award for “Outstanding Folk Act”. She has appeared on various NPR programs. SUMMARY:Junior STEM Engineering Contest
DESCRIPTION:The Junior STEM Engineering Contest is a student-led community event organized by the Westford Academy Structural Engineering Club. The goal of this event is to introduce young students to science\, technology\, engineering\, and math concepts in a way that is age-appropriate\, engaging\, and fun. Through hands-on activities such as balloon cars\, slime making\, marshmallow bridge building\, popsicle stick catapults\, straw towers\, and graham cracker houses\, participants will explore ideas like Newton’s third law\, problem-solving\, and basic structural geometry. The interactive challenges are designed to encourage creativity\, teamwork\, and curiosity while helping children learn through play in a positive and supportive environment. \nSnacks will be provided for all participants to help make the experience enjoyable and comfortable. \nAll children will receive a certificate at the end of the event\, and the top three participants will be awarded medals. \nThe event is open to children ages 5–12 and will take place on Saturday\, March 7 from 1:30–4:30 pm in the gymnasium at The Roudenbush Community Center\, Inc\, located at 65 Main St\, Westford\, MA 01886. The entry fee is $8 per child\, with payment accepted at the door. If registration is not completed by March 1\, the at-the-door price will be $10 per child.

SUMMARY:Chelmsford Community Band Winter Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Chelmsford Community Concert Band invites you to their Winter Concert on Sunday\, March 15\, at 2pm\, at the Chelmsford High School Performing Arts Center. This year’s concert is a celebration of music that originated with the written word. The program includes homages to Hugo’s Les Miserables\, Terry Pratchett’s Good Omens\, and both the original Wizard of Oz and Wicked. The performance will also feature a piece based on Kerouac’s writings\, penned by a local composer\, UMass Lowell professor Daniel Lutz. \nAdmission to the concert is free\, but donations are always very gratefully accepted so that the band can continue to operate. Suggested donations are $10 for adults and $20 for families. \nThe Chelmsford Community Band has a 75-piece concert band and a 20-piece jazz ensemble made of dedicated volunteer musicians with a proud tradition of bringing live musical performances to this community since 1972.
