9:26 p.m. – The Selectmen returned to public session after over an hour of deliberation in Executive Session.
Peraner-Sweet said the board is not yet at a decision, but the board was cognizant that other people were here for other matters.
She then said all of the other issues will be dealt with first, then the board would return to Executive Session.
9:27 p.m. – The meeting went to a proposal regarding approval of a conservation restriction near Kimball Farm.
Conservation Agent Bill Turn provided information on the land in question which is just to the west of Kimball Farm.
With the new restriction, a strip of land approximately a mile long heading from the area back to Nashoba Hill would be preserved.
The restriction is approved unanimously.
9:33 p.m. – The agenda then went to approve a Local Acquisitions for Natural Diversity (LAND) Grant application to help purchase a property along near Timberlake, a property in the northern portion of town.
Two parcels of land have been offered to the town, a mixed forest land parcel and a marshland parcel, combining for approximately 40 acres.
The restriction would prohibit motor vehicle access on the land from Penny Road.
The land would be purchased for approximately $900,000, with the LAND Grant providing approximately $400,000 and Conservation Fund CPA money providing approximately $450,000.
Turner also talked about the ecological importance of the area.
Kluchman said that the area is also significant at the regional level as part of the 495 Compact, a group of towns banding together to help each other with grants.
Hazelton asked if the money would go into the CPC funds if the grant was awarded, Turner said he would have the answer to that soon.
The motion worded by Turner was approved.
9:43 p.m. – Verizon representatives provided an update on Vine Brook Road and Melissa Drive regarding FIOS insta
llation.
The two areas were the last parts of town without FIOS.
The representatives said the FIOS is now in place.
Peraner-Sweet said it was a long process, but she was pleased that anyone in town can now get it.
9:44 p.m. – Tom Barry of the Economic Development Committee discussed an intermunicipal agreement with the Town of Acton regarding a Transportation Management Association (TMA) called Crosstown Connect (CTC).
The proposal asks the town to pay $5,000 for the next fiscal year.
According to Barry, CTC is an informal collaboration between the towns of Acton, Maynard, Boxborough, Littleton and Stow to help transportation concerns of residents and business on items such as elderly transportation and transportation to area mass transit stops.
The proposal could also help the town regarding its role in the Lowell Regional Transit Authority (LRTA).
Town Manager Jodi Ross said the initial funding would come from Selectmen Funds, with a Town Meeting appropriation next year.
The proposal was approved.
9:49 p.m. – Karen Hudson, chairwoman of the Pedestrian Safety Committee, came forth for a proposed sidewalk extension near the Nabnasset School.
Hudson said the proposal is part of the Safe Routes to School program, and that this step was the first route in securing support.
The proposal was unanimously approved.
